my story

I’ve always been a creative person, but technology was never something that important to me.  {We still had a rotary phone & a record player well past their prime in my childhood home!}  Raised in rural Pennsylvania, I embarked on a four-year college experience to become an elementary teacher.  One thing that college had that we didn’t back home:  an internet connection. In my spare time, I found myself dabbling in website creation (hello, Geocities!) & creating learning experiences for my future students using online tools.  I was hooked!

After my daughter was born, dabbling turned into a passion.  Traditional work, traditional teaching would have to wait – I had babies to raise.

Over the past 11 years, I have created freelancing opportunities to afford the luxury of working from home:   in-home piano studio, tutoring, online retail store, online influencer & blogger, digital campaign manager, web designer, content marketer, & now owner of Sugar Creative Agency.  All those skills wrapped up into one, earning a full-time income working part-time hours.  Now that’s what I call a win.
